Different Types of Keytops

Ivory – Two piece. Look for the line dividing the head and the tail. They also have a distinctive grain.

Celluloid Plastic (Early 20th century) – Off white. Rounded chips.

Plastic – One piece, brilliant white, with or without fronts.

Simulated ivory (for replacement of single missing ivory keycaps) – Off white, fake looking grain.

Replacing a Single Keytop
– Remove old chipped keycap with heat and a utility knife
– Use PCV-E glue (for plastic key) or CA glue (for ivory key)
