To become certified as an APTU with IPTS, simply follow these steps:

1. Watch the Unit Descriptive Video for the unit you want to pass.

2. Watch the Example Video.

3. Learn the unit techniques.

4. Practice the unit techniques.

5. When you're ready, watch the Scoring Video for that unit.

6. Record the intervals.

7. Filter, measure and score the intervals according to the Scoring Video's instructions.

8. Move on the the next unit.

That's it!

Notes:
Ask us to mark a few units at the beginning so you can check if you're doing it right.

After you finish all 21 units, you must complete unit 22 and tune a piano for a professional technician who will score you between 1 and 4.

Level 1 - Not ready to charge money for tunings.

Level 2 - Ready to charge money for residential, non-critical tunings. Not   ready to tune for professional musicians, concert halls, or other high level customers.

Level 3 - Ready to tune for professional musicians, concert halls, and other high level customers, but with some concerns or caveats.

Level 4 - Ready to tune for professional musicians, concert halls, and other high level customers. No caveats or concerns.

If you get at least a level 2 on your final exam, then you will become certified as an Aural Piano Tuner, APTU, with the International Piano Technicians School, IPTS.
