NOW YOU CAN…

  • Learn how to tune pianos by ear
  • Save money by tuning your own piano
  • Earn extra cash by tuning other people’s pianos part-time
  • Work towards a full-time career in Piano Technology

If you’ve been thinking about learning more about piano tuning, now is your opportunity to take a live class with me, Mark Cerisano RPT, this summer.

I have been teaching piano tuning and repair since 2005 and in that time, have taught hundreds of people how to tune pianos.

WARNING!

If you are thinking of learning how to tune pianos, be careful. There are many bad methods out there. If you have already looked into learning how to tune pianos you will have seen that most are weak at best, and some are just plain wrong! Virtually all methods leave the student struggling to figure out what the text or video means, except for the New Go APE Aural Piano Tuning System. Go APE is the new aural piano tuning method that can help you get real results that you can truly be proud of.

LEARN TO TUNE BY EAR!

When a person begins thinking about learning to tune pianos, they automatically imagine themselves tuning a piano by ear. Nobody thinks, “Hey, I could look into tuning a piano by ear, but why bother? Tuning with a machine is much more accurate and everyone expects me to be using the most highly advanced technology possible, right?”

Wrong! People do not think that. Why? Because piano tuning is and has always been considered an aural skill. Come on! We’re tuning a musical instrument here! It makes music, that people LISTEN TO!

Also, most professional technicians know and agree that computers do not give the most accurate results. This is due to the measurement error inherent in all computers and the way computers approximate and assume what the correct tuning should be. That creates error that the ear can hear

THEN WHY DO SO MANY PIANO TECHNICIANS USE A MACHINE?

Well, part of the reason has to do with the challenges inherent in learning to tune pianos by ear.

1. Vague Methods
Traditional aural methods are vague and have errors in them. These errors can be corrected by using the ear. (See #2) However, a more accurate, precise, and efficient method is available and is only taught by me, the creator. The Go APE Aural Piano Tuning System has been developed to reduce student frustration and provide a definitive method that is easy to follow and can produce concert level tunings.

“I found that [Mark’s] Go APE method provides a way to not just set the note close enough, but to set the pitch precisely from the start.”
– Tom, Musician

“This method is incredible. It blows my mind that other technicians do not know about this. It takes all the guess work out of tuning a piano by ear.”
– Michael, Piano Technician

2. Training the Ear
It takes time for the brain and ear to develop so that one can easily hear the beat speeds that are needed to correct the errors produced by inferior aural piano tuning methods. But I t can be done and must be done if you want to produce high quality tunings (even the Go APE method needs some corrections sometimes) but if you can’t hear the beats easily, you can not learn to tune pianos by ear.

HEAR WHAT AN EXPERIENCED AURAL PIANO TUNER HEARS!

I have developed an Electronic Tuning Device (ETD) that is an aural device that makes hearing beats easy. The Tuneable Audio Bandpass Filter allows you to hear what I hear. It also allows you to reduce its effect, thereby being

– The first ETD that trains you to TUNE PIANOS BY EAR!
