How to Tune Pianos

The Hobby, Skill, and Career of Piano Tuning

By Mark Cerisano

The traditional method of changing pitch is to listen to a single string or the sound of a beating interval and guage when the sound changes. Often technicians will just guess - moving the pitch back and forth until it sounds right.

These methods are not very good because they are not precise - you cannot get good feedback on when the pitch actually changes.

This results lost time, searching for the correct pitch and guessing when it has changed.

With DSU there is no more guessing. You can easily hear the string change by less than 1 cent.

Take the pitch sensitivity tests below and see for yourself!
