Why should you attend this conference?
Aural piano tuning is hard because the methods are vague and inaccurate.
Piano technicians since the beginning of piano tuning have accepted that it takes time to learn. But not any more.
Why Aural Tuning?
Simple. It's more accurate than using a machine. Until now, nobody knew for sure. Now we do. If you want to be the best, you need to learn how to do this by ear.
How is this method different?
First, you check each note tuned with a very highly accurate procedure. So accurate in fact that when you find a note that needs correcting, you don't have to use multiple checks to figure out how to correct it. You use only one; the one you used to tune the note in the first place.
Traditional methods do NOT have this accuracy so you can NOT use the method you tuned the note in the first place to correct it. You need to get multiple checks, and that takes time, and some checks may be wrong.
Also, stability is now achieved by knowing why a string slipps and altering technique accordingly, instead of the haphazard way of trial and error that is currently common, combined with unsafe hard blows that damage hearing, wrist, arms, shoulders, neck, and piano. By knowing why stability occurs we are able to tune stable strings and test stability using a soft blow technique.
