Date:
Technician:

Piano:
Serial #:
Tuned by [Ear/ETD]: (If ETD list name)
Tuning Style: (What was your goal when you were tuning the treble?)
1) Pure 12ths*
2) Pure 19ths*
3) Pure Triple Octaves*
4) Pure P12/P19 at the same time if the scale is small or medium**
5) Compromise between the P12 (or the P12/P19 average if the 6:3 is not pure) and the P22 (if the m6 was not tweaked)***
6) Pure P12/P19/P22 if the scale was small/medium and you tweaked the m6 to be the same speed as the M6 (Pure P11, m6=M6)****

*These stretch schemes are not as precise due to the wider window where the single criterium is possible.
**This scheme is more precise but can result in some wild P22 since the m6 is not taken into account.
***This is probably the scheme that is being used if the technician does not conciously choose one of the others mentioned here.
If the scale is Large and the octaves are tuned that way, then the 6:3 will definitley be narrow. (m3 >> M6)
We could (should?) tune the M17 between the m3 and the M6 so that we have a narrow P19 and a wide P12. (m3 > M17 > M6)
Now, if the m6 = M17, (m3 > M17/m6 > M6), then the P22 (m6/M17) will be pure and between the wide P12 (M6/M17) and the narrow P19 (m3/M17).
If the m6 is not the same speed as the M17, we could tweak the m6 by making the P4(8:6) as wide as the P11 is narrow. (m3 > m6 > M6)
Note: If the scale is small (pure 6:3 and m3 = M6), then if we try to "tweak the m6 by making the P4(8:6) as wide as the P11 is narrow. (m3 > m6 > M6)", then since m3 = M6 (pure 6:3) then we would end up with m3 = m6 = M6, which is scheme 6**** below.
****This scheme is currently considered the best scheme because of its high precision and accuracy.
The only possible issue is the resultant octave produced by tweeking the m6. This scheme priotizes pure larger intervals over the single octave size.
It is believed that acceptable octave sizes contain a wider range of sizes than what is possible when trying to make many larger intervals pure all at once.
That is why this scheme is preferred.

Then, SUBMIT the following intervals recorded,
- Single strings,
- 2-3 seconds each, in the orders shown in the diagrams below:
(phone or laptop microphone is sufficient)
(keyboards start at A0 in the diagrams below)
