1) Understanding tensions so that we can tune stable strings quickly without using damaging test blows!

2) Focusing on beat rates and using highly accurate and precise criteria to be able to know when the pitch is absolutely correct, and using this same criteria to find and correct pitches that drift before the tuning is finished!

3) Using the incredible accuracy and precision of the purely tuned unison to know when we have moved the pitch of one string by as little as 0.3 cents!  This can NOT be done by ear with any other aural method!
