Musicians spend years studying music theory but for piano technicians who do not want or need to compose, arrange, improvise, etc., they may not need to spend as much time drilling these concepts into their brain.
Standard music theory for piano technicians creates some technically incorrect ways of naming notes and intervals, but it makes it extremely easy for a piano technician who has a weak knowledge of classical music theory to be able to name notes and intervals.
