F.A.Q.

Q. Why are the intervals sometimes wrong? e.g. F3-A#3 is listed as a P4.
A. The keys are named as sharps only. The app only lists intervals as the most common name. This creates some interval names that may not agree with classical music theory. If this is bothersome, the user is encouraged to imagine the notes as correct names enharmonically.

Q. How do you use the check notes?
A. The key to understanding check notes is to understand that they measure each interval notes sharpness (when the check notes are set correctly, i.e. flat from pure, not too fast, not too slow.) Also, remember that when you use the check note, you must always play it with each interval note. In this way, each checknote measures the interval notes sharpness - the faster the beating; the sharper the note. So if the top note beats faster, it is sharper. Top note sharper means wide interval.

Q. I can't get my unison to be clean?
A. There are three common reasons for that. One, you are moving the pitch too far. Try moving it less. Two, one or more of the strings have false beats which are beats that you can hear on a single string. Try to fix them using standard techniques. Three, the strings are mismatched. Measure their diameters and if they are not the same diameter, replace one or both.
