The Regulation Triangle is a concept that allows technicians to clearly and easily:
- Figure out what regulation adjustments need to be done to make the upright or grand piano feel its best.
- Easily identify how regulation adjustments affect each other.
- Save time by figuring out what needs to be done quickly.
The method uses descriptions of how these regulation adjustments are meant to improve musical performance characteritsics like speed, power, and sensitivity, and how adjustments to the action can affect how easily the piano can produce these qualities.
At the center of the method is the concept of Aftertouch, which is a measurement in the action that produces the right feel, allowing pianists to play to the “2nd Keyboard” or not, thereby creating different effects such as tone, etc.
