Unison Problems Lesson 3
Weinreich Drift
Professor Gabriel Weinreich was a physics professor and pianist who lived from 1928 -2023.
He published many papers on acoustics and once did a study to determine if slightly out-of-tune unisons had a longer sustain (they do).
During that study he noticed an unusual phenomenon. Once a string is tuned and measured and then a 2nd string is tuned to it cleanly, the resulting pitch most likely will be the same, but sometimes it goes up, and sometimes it goes down.
